For the 4th time, the Wales Gene Park is running its genetics roadshow for year 12/13 students from Wales and the bordering counties of England. This event takes leading speakers into schools and colleges to talk about the latest advances in genetics.

As well as taking the students beyond the text book to hear about the latest advances in this exciting area, the students also gain an insight into genetics-related courses and careers and have the opportunity to put their questions to the experts. There has been a tremendous response from schools and colleges for the events with over 4000 students participating in the previous roadshows in 2013/14.

Some examples of the genetic topics we can offer include: DNA structure; PCR and DNA sequencing; genomics; DNA damage, cell cycle and cancer; genetic counselling; stem cell research; GM foods; inherited disorders; evolution; biodiversity; cloning and genetic engineering; and forensics.
