We are pleased to announce two genetics CPD (Continuing Professional Development) events for teachers in north and south Wales. These events are being held in collaboration with Techniquest.

Monday 26th June, 9.30am-3.30pm, Life Sciences Hub, Cardiff Bay

This event will comprise a series of short talks from experts on genetics topics relevant to the WJEC AS/A level biology syllabus (including Next Generation Sequencing, stem cells, epigenetics, and genetic and genomic testing and healthcare), followed by an interactive session on genetics and statistics, and an introduction to bioinformatics.  Lunch and refreshments provided.

Funding: this course is subsidised by STEM LEARNING Ltd as part of their RCUK programme and so there is NO COST and teachers will be eligible for a £180 ENTHUSE/RCUK bursary.

This event will comprise a series of short talks from experts on genetics topics relevant to the WJEC AS/A level biology syllabus (including pharmacogenomics and personalised medicine, stem cells, plant genetics and GM crops, genomic testing and healthcare and the 100,000 Genomes Project), followed by a teachers’ focus group. Lunch and refreshments provided.
