Cardiff University seeks to appoint a highly motivated individual to oversee management of the Wales Gene Park’s senior team. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who has experience of managing a programme of activity and working in a higher education/NHS environment with experience of bioinformatics and genome scale sequencing technology.
Wales Gene Park is funded by the Welsh Government through Health and Care Research Wales; we are currently in our 20th year of consecutive funding. Our mission is to promote and facilitate medical genetic research and to educate and inform the public, health professionals, and young people alike about the issues and opportunities raised by genetics. Wales Gene Park is an integral member of Genomics Partnership Wales, working with the other partners to implement the Welsh Government’s Genomics for Precision Medicine strategy, with all partners set to relocate from Heath Park to the Cardiff Edge site, Coryton, towards the end of 2023.
Wales Gene Park works closely with the Welsh NHS, in particular the All Wales Medical Genomics Service (AWMGS), to promote and enable the utilisation of genomic technology in diagnostics and health care. We bring together expertise and experience in genetics and genomics within Wales, provide state-of-the-art technologies to researchers and provide innovative initiatives to educate and engage health professionals and the public in Wales and beyond.
