The Use of Novel Biological Therapies in the Treatment of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).  (Long-term Safety of New Treatments in the Management of SLE) The BILAG Biologics Register (BILAG BR) is a study underway at hospitals throughout the UK. It is looking at the safety and effectiveness of biologic and biosimilar treatment for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Biologic drugs use substances that are made from living organisms, and use the body’s natural immune system to treat a disease. This can be done by stimulating or suppressing part of the immune system to help the body fight the disease. We’ll follow your progress through your hospital care team, who will collect data on your lupus symptoms and treatment when you attend your routine hospital appointments.
